Ronaldo was left angry and frustrated after being charged with tax evasion by Spanish prosecutors last month. The 32-year-old star is said to be planning to leave Real and move to another country. Last month, Ronaldo and Man Utd were rumoured to be reuniting after parting ways in 2009.
"I will not let my club waste time on impossible deals," Mourinho said. "Ronaldo is a very important player for Real. A player with great economic power. We cannot find any reason why Ronaldo could leave."
Mourinho coached Ronaldo for three seasons while at Real. However, the relationship ended badly after the coach had to part ways in 2013.
Man Utd's publicly pursued player Alvaro Morata from Real is unlikely to join Old Trafford. Mourinho's team spent £97m to bring Lukaku, ending their ambition to own the Spanish striker, who is currently being asked for more than £100m by Real.
"Morata is a player who deserves to be in the first team. I have followed his development at Juventus and Real," Mourinho said. "However, we did not reach an agreement with Real and it is difficult for Morata to join Man Utd"./.
