Mourinho: 'I'm still nothing at Man Utd'

The Portuguese coach believes he is still in the shadow of the legends at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho believes that he cannot be compared to the great coaches in Man Utd's history. However, when it comes to his future, he is confident that he can continue his coaching career for another 15 years.

"Being at this club makes me feel like I'm nothing. Especially when you have two legends, Man Utd have many legends but in terms of titles and cups, there are two (Busby and Ferguson) who are above me. I feel like I'm nothing. I always have to prove myself," Mourinho told Rio Ferdinand on a TV show.

In his first season at Old Trafford, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach helped his new team win the League Cup and Europa League, thereby securing a ticket to the Champions League next season. However, many people consider this achievement still not enough to meet expectations.

"I just feel that what I did at the club is not enough to be here (pointing to the wall with pictures of Ferguson and Busby). That's why I'm there (pointing to his picture in another place on the wall)," Mourinho said.

However, Mourinho believes he still has special achievements to be proud of and, more importantly, there is still time to win more. "Sometimes, I look back at what I have done, I have something that no one else has. No one has ever won in Spain, Italy and England. In all three countries, I have won all the competitions, not just the national championship," he said.

"For example, when I beat Anderlecht, I said I had equalled Sir Alex and Trapattoni's record of 10 European Cup semi-finals. They are retired. But I still have the chance to reach semi-finals. So there are things I am really proud of," Mourinho continued.

Satisfied with what he has achieved, Mourinho also reminded everyone that he is only halfway through his coaching career. The 54-year-old coach said: "I am really lucky with the path I have taken in my career. I have participated in the Spanish derby, the Italian derby, the Portuguese derby, the English derby, all the finals of the Cup tournaments in those countries and fought for titles, a great experience."

"If I ended my career tomorrow, I would still be happy with those experiences. But my career is only half over. I have 15 more years," Mourinho confided.
