Italy appoints Roberto Mancini as coach

The former Inter and Man City coach has signed a two-year contract with the FIGC, with the immediate task of qualifying for Euro 2020. Mancini will leave Zenit to take charge of the national team for the first time.

Mancini started his coaching career with Fiorentina, before moving to Lazio and reaching the top in four years leading Inter, from 2004 to 2008. The 53-year-old coach will meet his players at the Coverciano training center on May 22, six days before the friendly match with Saudi Arabia. Mancini's next two challenges are France (June 1) and the Netherlands (June 4).
