Hail and tornado in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 9, in Mai Son commune, Tuong Duong (Nghe An), a hailstorm lasted for more than 1 hour, causing damage to many houses.

Ice from the rain was picked up by Mai Son commune people and put into a bowl.

Mr. Lo Van Hoa - Secretary of the Party Committee of Mai Son Son commune said that the hailstorm lasted for more than 30 minutes, occurring in several villages, the heaviest of which was in Huoi Xa village. The rain brought down many large stones, especially those nearly the size of bowls. There are no official statistics yet, but the hailstorm caused serious damage in Huoi Xa village and several neighboring villages.

Mai Son Party Secretary Lo Van Hoa added that this was the first hailstorm of the season this year. Mai Son is one of the communes that often suffers from hailstorms and whirlwinds every year.

Authorities are calculating the damage and developing plans to help people overcome the consequences.
