These days, as the cold weather arrives in the village, at 6 a.m., while the morning dew still clings to the leaves along the roadside, the women are already calling out to each other...
Gathering reeds was no easy task. It took the women more than two hours to reach the summit of Cang Hem mountain in the biting cold. The steep slopes required them to cling tightly to every bush along the way to climb. The reeds, with their sharp, blade-like leaves, could scratch their faces and hands if they weren't careful.
Currently, each kilogram of fresh reeds costs 35,000 VND. On average, each person can collect 50 kg of fresh reeds per day. Thanks to the reed harvesting season, many families in Vang Lin village have earned a significant income.
