(Baonghean.vn) - In early October, the chill of autumn arrived in the mountainous district of Tuong Duong, marking the beginning of the summer-autumn harvest season. From the mountain slopes to the terraced fields, villagers, some carrying baskets, others hauling machinery, flocked to the fields and rice paddies ripe with golden rice to harvest.
Tuong Duong is a difficult mountainous district with a natural land area of over 281,000 hectares (accounting for 17% of the province's total natural land area), of which agricultural land accounts for only 0.32%, the rest being forest land and other types of land.
Rice paddy land plays a crucial role in the daily lives of people in Tuong Duong district in particular and the entire western region of Nghe An province in general. It contributes significantly to the local food supply for the people, thereby promoting the new rural development process in the area.
