Heavy rain continues, floods on Huong River and Bo River continue to rise
Prolonged heavy rains have caused deep flooding in many areas of the Central region, and floods on the Huong and Bo rivers continue to rise. Rain is forecast to continue until November 21.
Rainfall exceeds 300 mm, many measuring stations record very high levels
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, strong cold air combined with easterly winds creates a heavy rain band stretching from Ha Tinh to Da Nang, spreading to the east of Quang Ngai - Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa - Lam Dong.
During the period from 7pm on November 17 to 3am on November 18, rainfall in many places exceeded 200mm. Some measuring stations recorded exceptionally high levels: Binh Dien Hydropower Plant (Hue) 332mm, Ba Dien (Quang Ngai) 263mm, Phuoc Tra (Da Nang) 255mm, Ta Rut (Quang Tri) 244mm, Song Hinh (Dak Lak) 240mm and Khanh Vu (Khanh Hoa) 238mm.
The rain caused the water level on the rivers in Hue to rise rapidly. At 6am, the Bo River at Phu Oc reached 4.79m, nearly 0.3m higher than the alarm level 3. The Huong River at Kim Long reached 2.48m, about 0.48m higher than the alarm level 2.

30 communes and wards in Hue are at risk of deep flooding.
Thua Thien Hue authorities warn of the risk of widespread flooding in 30 communes and wards in Phong Dien, Quang Dien, Huong Tra, Huong Thuy districts and Hue city.
The list includes: Phong Dinh, Phong Phu, Phong Quang, Phong Thai, Dan Dien, Quang Dien, Hoa Chau, Duong No, Thuan An, Huong Tra, Huong An, Kim Tra, My Thuong, Phu Ho, Kim Long, Thuan Hoa, Phu Xuan, Thuy Xuan, Huong Thuy, Vy Da, An Cuu, Thanh Thuy, Phu Vinh, Phu Vang, Vinh Loc, Phu Bai, Loc An, Hung Loc, Phu Loc.
Floods are forecast to continue to rise today. The Bo River may peak at 5 m (about 0.5 m above alert level 3), about 0.31 m lower than the flood peak on November 3. The Huong River may rise to 3.80 m, about 0.3 m higher than alert level 3.


Heavy rain extends from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa
It is forecasted that from now until the night of November 18, the Quang Tri - Da Nang area and the east of Quang Ngai - Gia Lai will have heavy to very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 200 - 450 mm, in some places exceeding 700 mm.
Ha Tinh, eastern Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa have rain of 100 - 300 mm, in some places exceeding 400 mm.
West of Quang Ngai - Dak Lak and Lam Dong rain 50 - 100 mm, some places over 200 mm.
On November 19, rain continued in Hue, Da Nang, eastern Quang Ngai - Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa, rainfall 70 - 150 mm, in some places exceeding 250 mm.
Total rainfall from November 16 to 19 in Quang Tri - Da Nang and the east of Quang Ngai - Gia Lai is commonly 300 - 600 mm, in some places exceeding 850 mm.
The risk of flash floods and landslides is very high.
The meteorological agency warned that from now until November 20, rivers from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa may experience a new flood. Many large rivers are likely to reach alert level 2 or alert level 3, even exceeding alert level 3 in some areas.
The risk of deep flooding in low-lying riverside areas and residential areas from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa continues to be high. Mountainous areas face the risk of flash floods and landslides, especially in Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai and Dak Lak.
Heavy rain is expected to last until November 21, gradually decreasing after November 22.
The Meteorological Center said widespread rain in the Central region will last until November 21. From November 22, rain will gradually decrease but will still be scattered in Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa.
Local authorities are required to closely monitor the developments of floods and rains and arrange forces on duty at key locations to ensure people's safety.
