Heavy rains cause landslides, blocking National Highway 7.
(Baonghean.vn) -The heavy rain on the afternoon of August 28th in Ky Son district caused serious landslides on National Highway 7 in the section passing through Chieu Luu commune, completely blocking traffic.
The most severe landslide occurred near Khe Thoi Bridge in Chieu Luu commune. After heavy rain, a large amount of mud and soil from the mountaintop slid across the road and into the Nam Mo River. From 10 PM on August 29th, this section of road was completely blocked, preventing people and vehicles from passing. At both ends of the landslide, passenger buses and trucks traveling from Muong Xen to Vinh and vice versa had to wait until morning for the road to be cleared.

In addition to the aforementioned area, the road through Huoi Tho village, Chieu Luu commune, also suffered serious landslides, causing traffic disruption.
On the morning of August 29th, hundreds of locals and tourists traveling on the Vinh – Ky Son route had to get off their vehicles and wade through the landslide area to find alternative transportation. More than a dozen cars were still stranded on the road, as this narrow section prevented large trucks and sleeper buses from turning around, exacerbating the traffic congestion on National Highway 7.

A large amount of mud and soil, eroded by rain from the mountaintop, flowed across the road and into the Nam Mo River.
Throughout the night of August 28th, many passengers had to lie in their vehicles at both ends of the landslide area, waiting for the road to be cleared.
One person tried to push the motorbike across the landslide but couldn't, so they had to call on others to help carry it.
Many people had to get out of the car, carry their luggage, and find a way to get past the traffic jam.
Besides locals and tourists who had to wait all night on buses, many teachers and students were also unable to cross the landslide area to get to school.
By 8:00 AM on August 29th, authorities had only just brought excavators from Tuong Duong district to the scene to clear the landslide debris. It is expected that the site will be cleared by noon the same day, and National Highway 7A will be reopened to traffic.
