Buy multiple Facebook accounts to fraudulently sell luxury goods

The Hanoi High-Tech Police Department said it had just coordinated with Phu Yen Provincial Police to arrest Phan Chi Trung (23 years old, Phu Yen Province) for using computer networks, telecommunications networks, electronic devices, and appropriating property.

Previously, some victims went to the police station to report that their money had been stolen when they bought shoes... on social media. The victims said that because the prices of the branded products were reasonable, they transferred money to the seller's account but received no response.

Police have identified the person selling luxury goods to the victims as Trung.

Trung confessed that he was looking to buy Facebook accounts of women with many friends, high interaction, and long-standing business dealings in luxury goods on social networks that were sold by hackers.

Trung used these accounts to join groups specializing in buying, selling, and exchanging new and used branded goods. He found people who posted information about their purchases and then sent product images taken from websites or Facebook pages that sold other branded goods.

After agreeing to purchase the goods, Trung asked the buyer to transfer money into the account and then appropriated it. When the buyer contacted him about the slow delivery, Trung blocked the victim's Facebook and phone number.

Authorities initially determined that Trung used the accounts "Cao Thi Thanh Thuy", "Hoang Hien Thuong", "Hoai Tina", "Kim Ngan", "Kieu Oanh", "Minh Thuy" and "Tang Hang" to commit fraud.

The amount of money that Trung appropriated was over 400 million VND, in Hanoi alone, 7 victims lost 156 million VND.
