Bought fireworks and hid them in a buffalo pen. The defendant had a previous conviction for possession of contraband and was sentenced to prison.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 1, at the People's Committee of Dong Van commune, Tan Ky district People's Court held a mobile trial of the criminal case against Le Van Su (born in 1985), residing in Tan Dien hamlet, Dong Van commune, for the crime of storing prohibited goods.
On the morning of December 19, 2020, Su took the bus from his home to the intersection of Dien Chau town to play and met an unfamiliar man. Here, this man asked Le Van Su if he wanted to buyfireworktype 36 empty, then Su agreed to buy 13 boxes of fireworks for 400,000 VND/box. After that, the strange man drove a red and black Yamaha Sirius motorbike (no license plate) to an unknown location and returned 10 minutes later, giving Su a snake skin bag containing 13 boxes of fireworks.

Le Van Su took the snake carcass and gave the man 5,200,000 VND and then took the bus home. After arriving home, Su took the snake carcass and the firecrackers hidden in the buffalo pen.
At about 7:00 p.m. on December 20, 2020, after receiving a report from the public, the Tan Ky District Police Department urgently searched Le Van Su's residence and discovered a snake skin on the buffalo pen in the house, inside were 13 rectangular blocks with similar characteristics and dimensions of 14x14x10 cm; each box was wrapped in colored leather with many lines of foreign text printed on it; each box had the symbol C0843. Inside each rectangular block were 36 round cylinders measuring 2.4x10 cm; the round cylinders were connected by a gray-white wire and pink tissue (suspected to be slow-burning fuse). All 13 blocks were suspected to be fireworks. The police force sealed the evidence at the headquarters.
Taking advantage of the loophole, Le Van Su fled the scene. Two days later, realizing that his actions were illegal, Su turned himself in to the Tan Ky District Police Department, admitting that the fireworks were purchased by Su for use during the Lunar New Year.
On December 22, 2020, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Ky District Police established a Council to open the seal to determine the mass, take samples for appraisal and conclude: The samples sent for appraisal are all firecrackers with full characteristics of explosive firecrackers.
Previously, on December 16, 2019, Le Van Su was sentenced by the People's Court of Tan Ky district to 12 months in prison with a suspended sentence and 24 months probation for the crime of "Possessing prohibited goods".
At the end of the trial, combined with the punishment in the previous verdict, the panel of judges sentenced Le Van Su to 19 months in prison.
