Although the tangerine season has just begun, the atmosphere in all gardens is already bustling. In the garden full of red tangerines, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan's family in village 9, Cam Son commune is concentrating on harvesting in time for the traders to come and buy. Ms. Lan shared: Her family has a long tradition of growing oranges and tangerines. With this red tangerine variety, in 2012 her family planted 50 trees to replace the area of ​​old, perennial orange trees and up to now they have been harvested.

This year, thanks to good care, the tangerines are very fruitful. These days, from early morning, the couple has to go to the garden to harvest tangerines. With a sweet taste, especially the red tangerines when ripe have a very eye-catching golden color, so they are favored by many customers. The current selling price at the garden is from 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg, it is estimated that this season, Ms. Lan's family harvested over 5 tons, after deducting expenses, her family's income is from 70-80 million VND.

Mr. Tran Van Hai's family, village 10, Hoi Son commune also invested in planting 10 sao of oranges and tangerines with over 100 trees at the foot of Kim Nhan hill. After many years of growing tangerines, Mr. Hai has accumulated a lot of experience. According to Mr. Hai: Red tangerines are a new variety, but when brought to this land, they are suitable for planting and grow well. After only 2 years of planting, the tangerine garden of his family is currently in its third year of harvest.

According to Mr. Hai's experience, growing tangerines is not too difficult, just need to regularly monitor the phenomenon of pests and diseases to prevent them in time, ensure enough necessary fertilizer, regularly water enough, keep the plants moist, but absolutely do not let them flood. If you want the plants to continue to produce high yields in the following crops, after harvesting, you must clean the garden, fertilize and prune old branches and diseased branches to concentrate nutrients for the plants, helping the plants recover. This year, the estimated yield of Mr. Hai's tangerine garden is about 3 tons. With the selling price at the garden of about 20,000 VND/kg, his family earns nearly 50 million VND in profit.

Currently, tangerines are grown by many people in Anh Son district in the communes of Dinh Son, Cam Son, Hoi Son, Phuc Son, Khai Son with an area of ​​about 25 hectares. Although this year the weather is not favorable, the red tangerine yield in Anh Son still reaches over 10 tons/ha. Just entering the harvest season, the price of tangerines is 20,000 VND/kg, estimated at over 200 million VND/ha. Although it has only been planted in some localities in Anh Son district, it has shown that it is very suitable for the soil, climate and farming practices of the people. Moreover, this is a high-yielding tree, the product is favored by consumers, and the price is stable.

With the goal of shifting agriculture towards commodity production, Anh Son district encourages and creates conditions to expand acreage and increase income for farmers on the same unit area.
