Meteor showers appear in late July
Vietnamese astronomy enthusiasts will have the opportunity to observe the Delta Aquarids meteor shower with about 20 streaks/hour at the end of this month.
The Delta Aquarids takes place annually from July 12 to August 23. In Vietnam, according to Mr. Dang Vu Tuan Son (Head of the Young Astronomy Club), the peak of the meteor shower is from 2 a.m. to before dawn on July 28 and 29.
At this time, viewers can look south to the constellation Aquarius - the epicenter of the meteor shower, near one of the constellation's brightest stars, Delta.

Astronomers assess this as an average meteor shower with a peak density of 15 to 20 meteors per hour under optimal viewing conditions, no moon, hot and sunny weather, and no clouds. Viewers only need to use the naked eye, choose a wide viewing angle and comfortable position to observe.
The Delta Aquariids meteor shower originates from dust and rock debris left behind by comet 96P Machholz in its orbit around the sun, discovered by astronomer Donald Machholz in 1986.
