Buying pangolins from Laos to sell in Vietnam for profit
(Baonghean.vn) - On May 19, the People's Procuracy of Ky Son district approved the Decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Nguyen Van Duong (born in 1985, residing in Dien Hong hamlet, Dien Chau district) for the act of "Violating regulations on the protection of rare wild animals".

According to initial investigation results, on the evening of May 18, customs forces at Nam Can international border gate, Ky Son district discovered and arrested Nguyen Van Duong carrying two live pangolins in his carry-on luggage.
This is a species on the list of rare and endangered species prioritized for protection according to Decree 160/2013/ND-CP dated November 12, 2013 of the Government.
According to initial statements, Duong bought all of the pangolins from Laos and brought them back to Vietnam to sell for profit. Currently, the two pangolins are being sent for examination and care by the authorities.
