Dried squid in Nghe An is granted collective trademark certificate

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 8, at Son Hai commune, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Technology to grant the Certificate of Collective Trademark "Quynh Luu Dried Squid".

According to Decision No. 62136/QD - SHTT dated September 8, 2017 of the Department of Intellectual Property on granting Certificate of Trademark Registration No. 287652, the trademark "Quynh Luu Dried Squid" was granted to the Quynh Luu District Dried Squid Production and Trading Association with a total of 28 members in Quynh Long, An Hoa, Quynh Nghia, Son Hai communes, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province.

The granting of collective trademark certificates has created a legal basis to help develop the production and business of Quynh Luu dried squid products in a sustainable manner; develop products in both quality and value, contributing to making "Quynh Luu dried squid" a strong brand in both domestic and foreign markets, contributing to the development of the marine economy.

Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Technology and leaders of the Department of Science and Technology requested the Quynh Luu Dried Squid Association to ensure product quality and food hygiene and safety; expand the number of members participating in the association; strengthen propaganda and promotion to affirm the brand of "Quynh Luu Dried Squid" products in domestic and foreign markets.

Quynh Luu dried squid has long been famous thanks to its origin from the Quynh Luu sea area in the Gulf of Tonkin and is processed by fishermen at sea. In the natural conditions of sunshine, wind, and fresh air of the sea, it creates a special flavor with delicious quality, chewy meat and a very unique sweetness.

Therefore, Quynh Luu dried squid is a traditional product, especially popular and has a higher price than dried squid products from other coastal areas. However, because it has not yet established an exclusive brand, it has been imitated and its reputation has not been protected.

To solve the above problem, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district assigned the Quynh Luu District Agricultural Extension Station to implement the Project of Building and Managing the Collective Brand "Quynh Luu Dried Squid" with the desire to turn the product into a strong brand in the market, while developing the consumption market share.
