Nghe An salt price increases to record level
(Baonghean.vn) - Thanks to investment in improving the filtering cell and production on the crystallization cell platform, the salt quality is good, many large markets buy it, causing the salt price to increase to a record, reaching 2,500 VND/kg.nearly one and a half times higher than last year.
That is the affirmation of salt farmers in Quynh Luu when the price of salt is currently high, said on the morning of September 11.
According to trader Nguyen Cong Luong, the high price of salt is partly due to salt farmers leaving the field to do other jobs, leading to a decrease in salt production. However, the most important thing is that recently some large markets such as the US, Japan, South Korea, etc. have purchased and evaluated the salt as meeting standards.

Most of the salt imported by Nghe An salt farmers is only cleaned of trash, ground, iodized and packaged without any additional or reduced factors. Since July 2017, salt processing and export companies in Hanoi have come to Quynh Luu to sign contracts to purchase salt, and the current selling price at the warehouse has "increased" to 2,300 - 2,500 VND/kg.
"Currently, our army of traders has 10 large trucks that have to wait all day at the salt fields to collect goods, but many times there is no salt to buy because most of the salt reserves have been purchased for several weeks now" - Mr. Nguyen Cong Luong.
Thanks to the sharp increase in salt prices, salt farmers in the salt fields of Quynh Luu are working hard, racing against the heat to produce salt in time to sell to traders at the end of the day.

Mr. Ho Sy Lieu's family in Duc Long village, Quynh Thuan commune has 200 m2 of salt production, with 2 workers working 6 hours/day, they earn about 200 - 300 kg of salt; with the current selling price of 2,500 VND/kg, he earns 400,000 - 600,000 VND per day, double that of previous years. The salt produced is dried at the end of the day and sold to traders, giving his family more motivation to produce when the weather is favorable.
"For salt farmers, the increase in salt prices is exciting. The hot weather makes the salt dry quickly. At the end of the day, there are traders who buy everything, so we salt farmers forget all the hardships of working," said Ho Sy Lieu.
Quynh Luu is considered a large salt granary of Nghe An province, with more than 600 hectares of production, the total salt output supplied to the market annually reaches about 60,000 tons. In previous years, many salt farmers were not interested because of low prices and unfavorable weather, this year most salt farmers are excited because the purchase price increases every day.
