In an interview with reporters representing Vietnam Television, VNA, National Defense Television, TTVH newspaper... regarding the negative incident of a group of 6 Dong Nai Club players who were recently detained by C45 to serve the investigation, VFF Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized: "If we want football to develop, we must say no to negativity."

Phó Chủ tịch Trần Quốc Tuấn khẳng định quan điểm chống tiêu cực của VFF
Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed VFF's stance against negativity.

Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan said: "This is a very serious matter, not only affecting the reputation of the club, the reputation of the tournament but also greatly affects the reputation of Vietnamese football. VFF's viewpoint is to fight to the end to eliminate negative and unsportsmanlike phenomena from football life. All cases related to negativity in football competitions, especially violations of professional ethics, match-fixing, and cheating in competitions will be strictly handled. Players need to be aware that if they violate and fall, the door to future career development will close.

When asked about the underlying cause of some players falling into a spiral of negativity, notably the negative incident of the Ninh Binh Club players and most recently the negative incident of the Dong Nai Club players, Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan shared: “We think that the football environment is not bad. The most important thing is the awareness of those participating in football activities. In fact, there have been many players who have grown up and become famous in the football environment, overcoming difficulties in circumstances and injuries to play and contribute and become beautiful symbols in the hearts of fans.

However, there are still some players who, due to their lack of serious awareness of themselves and their careers, have had moments when they could not control themselves against negative influences, violating ethical issues that affected their reputation, career, and their own future.

To solve the problem of raising awareness of professional ethics of players at present, Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan said: “Most clubs in recent times have made many efforts in training young people. However, the issue of cultural and ethical education in parallel with professional training needs to be reviewed and given due attention. Because a talented player who is not trained in ethics will have certain effects on his ability to contribute in his career. There will be moments when those players will lose everything, sweat, training efforts, reputation will be erased very quickly when falling into the temptation of betting.

To improve this, we think that there needs to be contributions from many subjects involved in football activities, in which the role of the press is also very important, helping to discover, propagate and educate players that in addition to training, they must have a correct and clear awareness of their profession and society. We should not take this lightly, it must always be put as a top priority.

In response to concerns that Vietnamese football will fall into a major crisis if the VFF continues to expand its scope and take strong action against corruption, Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed: “If we want football to develop, we must say no to corruption. In the coming time, the VFF will continue to set out guidelines for preventing corruption, and guidelines for organizing and operating professional tournaments.

Vietnamese football has gone through difficult times. Like the 2005 scandal, we were all worried about Vietnamese football, but with the determination to clean up the football house, we took drastic measures. As everyone knows, 2 years later, our team entered the top 8 at the 2007 Asian Cup and just 1 year later, our team won the Southeast Asian championship. This demonstrated the clear stance of the VFF as well as the effectiveness in preventing negative activities in football activities in Vietnam.
