To ensure the planting of over 7,500 hectares of spring rice, Quynh Luu district has planted nearly 180 hectares of seedlings; including nearly 130 hectares of hybrid seedlings and 50 hectares of pure seedlings. Currently, some mountainous communes such as Quynh Chau, Quynh Tan, and Quynh Tam will begin planting in the next few days, bringing Quynh Luu district to 100% of the spring rice planting plan. All areas of seedlings are carefully covered with plastic by households to protect the seedlings from the cold and to limit insect damage.

However, in the fields of many localities, rats are now appearing in large numbers and have chewed up the spring rice seedlings. To limit this situation, localities have mobilized the entire population to fight rats by many measures such as digging and catching them, using biological bait. In particular, the form of setting traps to catch rats every night by farmers is widely developing in many villages and hamlets.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy in Hamlet 5, Quynh Dien Commune said: This spring, the family planted 5 kg of Thai Xuyen 111 seeds, and after planting, they covered them with plastic. After 2-3 days of checking, they discovered that mice had bitten and torn a lot of plastic and eaten a lot of seedlings. Therefore, the family bought dozens of traps, mainly set at night.

Along with the campaign to mobilize the entire population to kill rats, Quynh Luu district is actively directing communes and towns to clear bushes to limit hiding places for rats. In particular, for the form of digging and catching, it is necessary to pay attention to the work of protecting the banks of the ditches to facilitate travel and transportation during the season.
