Many ways to escape poverty of Anh Son women

(Baonghean.vn) - In recent times, Anh Son Women's Union has effectively exploited capital sources, opened many training courses on science and technology transfer to support women in sustainable poverty reduction and step by step enrichment right on their homeland.

To support women in economic development, Anh Son Women's Union has effectively exploited capital sources, through maintaining 395 guilds and 468 savings groups with a total value of over 36 billion VND.

Up to now, the association at all levels has managed over 120 billion VND, lending to over 4,500 households. Thanks to that, the entire district association has had 832 member households escape poverty, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the entire district from 21.54% (2011) to 8.96% (2015).

In the past 5 years, the association has opened 42 classes to teach traditional occupations such as: brocade weaving; broom making; incense production; raising chickens and pigs; growing clean vegetables, growing mushrooms... for 2,520 female members. Up to now, the association has built 170 economic models with high average incomes of 100-200 million VND.

Implementing the movement "Money tubes, rice savings jars", the whole association has donated more than 1,650,000 kg of rice, nearly 580 million VND to help nearly 6,100 members facing difficulties in life.

The Women's Union of Anh Son district regularly visits and gives gifts to members' families in difficult circumstances. Over the past 5 years, the union has built 24 new gratitude houses to help members' families in difficult circumstances.
