Borrowing mother's electric bike to get haircut and then selling it, young man sentenced to prison

Because he had no money for personal expenses, Dat came up with the idea of tricking Mrs. Pham Thi Diem (Dat's mother) to pawn the red 133S electric bicycle. At around 10:00 a.m. on October 19, 2019, Dat told Mrs. Diem"I borrowed the car to get a haircut and will come back this afternoon"Hearing her son say that, Mrs. Diem agreed.

After borrowing his mother's electric bike, Dat drove to Nguyen Cong Trung's house, residing in Ban Hien hamlet, Tien Ky commune, pawned the bike for 1,000,000 VND, then went to Quang Tri province to do business.
On November 15, 2019, Dat returned home. Due to running out of money, Dat asked Trung to find someone to sell the car to. Trung introduced Nguyen Duc Huy, residing in Lap Binh hamlet, Dong Van commune, to buy the car for 3,000,000 VND.
When the car was sold, Dat paid Mr. Trung 1,000,000 VND, and spent the remaining money on personal expenses.
The Tan Ky District People's Committee's Asset Valuation Council concluded: The electric bicycle is currently worth 4,500,000 VND.

It is known that Dat is a drug addict. On September 12, 2017, Dat was administratively punished by the Tan Ky District People's Court and sent to a compulsory drug rehabilitation facility for 18 months. He completed the administrative punishment on November 8, 2018.
At the trial, although very heartbroken, Mrs. Diem (Dat's mother) still stood up and asked the jury to reduce the sentence for her unruly son.
At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Dat to 9 months in prison.
