Borrow your motorbike, pawn it to get money to gamble
(Baonghean.vn) - Having gambling blood in their veins, after borrowing a motorbike from an acquaintance, Chi and Tu took it to pawn to get money to "burn" on gambling.
On the morning of June 28, in Tam Hop commune, the People's Court of Quy Hop district opened a mobile court to try the criminal case against the defendants Sam Van Chi (born in 1995, residing in Nam Son commune) and Vi Van Tu (born in 1977, residing in Chau Ly commune) for the crime of "Abuse of trust to appropriate property".
According to the indictment, at around 4:00 p.m. on February 15, 2018, after drinking together, Sam Van Chi invited a group of friends including Vi Van Giap, Truong Van Quy, and Kim Van Binh to his biological parents' house in Chau Quang commune to play. When arriving at his parents' gate, Chi asked to borrow Giap's motorbike with license plate 37H1-076.71. Giap agreed and handed the motorbike over to Chi.

After borrowing the motorbike, Chi drove to his girlfriend's house in Thai Hoa town to play and sleep there. At around 7:00 pm the next day (February 16, 2018), Chi drove the motorbike borrowed from Giap to Vi Van Tu's house in Chau Ly commune, Quy Hop to play.
30 minutes later, Chi and Tu invited each other to go out, when they reached the intersection, they met a group of strangers playing cards on the roadside, Chi immediately drove Tu to his friend's house in Ban Chao (Chau Thai), and he returned to join the gambling with that group. When he lost all the 200,000 VND he brought, Chi returned to his friend's house to pick up Tu, there, seeing a group of people gambling by shaking the dice, Chi invited Tu to take Giap's borrowed motorbike and pawn it to a stranger who was there for 1 million VND and gave Tu the money to gamble.
Having run out of money gambling, Chi told the man who pawned the car that it was cheap at 1 million, so he took it back and pawned it to Lo Van Duong, also in the gambling group, for 2.5 million. After receiving the money from Duong, Chi kept 500 thousand dong, paid the previous pawner 1 million dong, and gave the rest to Tu to continue gambling.
After the deadline, Chi did not return the motorbike. On February 21, 2018, Giap's mother filed a complaint against Sam Van Chi for abusing trust and appropriating the motorbike with license plate 37H1-076.71 worth 12 million VND. At the investigation agency, Chi and Tu honestly confessed their crimes.
It is known that Sam Van Chi has a bad personal history. In July 2017, he had a criminal record for "theft of property" and was sentenced to 6 months in prison by the People's Court of Con Cuong district.
Based on the evidence and documents examined, the panel sentenced defendant Sam Van Chi to 12 months in prison and Vi Van Tu to 7 months in prison with a suspended sentence for the crime of "Abuse of trust to appropriate property" under Clause 1, Article 175 of the Penal Code.
