US shoots down Syrian drone attacking coalition

Reuters reported on June 8 that a US military spokesman said the US had shot down an armed drone of pro-Syrian government forces that was attacking US-led coalition forces.

This is the first time Syrian government forces have attacked coalition forces.

A spokesman for the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State (IS) group, Colonel Ryan Dillon, said an object resembling an armed MQ-1 drone was destroyed after it attacked the coalition while it was conducting a patrol outside the de-escalation zone in southern Syria.

Colonel Dillon said there were no casualties from the coalition side./.
