China on August 16 protested against the US arms sale to Taiwan and sent an official note to Washington on the issue, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying made the statement when asked to comment on the US's move to sell $8 billion worth of F-16V fighter jets to Taiwan.
According to Ms. Hua Chunying, the US side has seriously violated the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiques, especially the August 17 communique, interfered in China's internal affairs and destroyed China's sovereignty and security interests.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson urged the US to stop arms sales and military exchanges with Taiwan, otherwise China will definitely take retaliatory measures and the US will be held responsible for all related consequences.
