America: Caught a giant 'monster' frog never seen before

An experienced hunter recently shared photos of himself catching a giant bull frog nearly the size of an adult in Texas.

The giant frog is almost as big as an adult human.

“Marcuz Rangel would like to share a photo of a giant elf frog caught at a fishing spot in Batesville, South Texas. The frog weighed 13 pounds,” the South Texas Hunters Association Facebook page wrote.

In the photo, Marcuz holds the shotgun in his right hand and the trophy in his left ear. The giant frog is almost the size of an adult human. It is not clear how Marcuz caught the frog.

Steve Lightfoot, a spokesman for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, said the photo that appeared on social media is real. It is probably the largest elf frog ever seen.

“The frog is just not as big as it looks,” said Mr. Lightfoot.

“It is an illusion created by the camera lens, which increases the size of the animal, similar to what we see when fishermen hold the giant fish they catch in their hands.”

Elf frogs can be large, but none have ever been as large as hunter Marcuz Rangel's trophy.

Since appearing on Facebook, the photo has attracted special attention from viewers, creating a wave of heated debate.

Account holder Donna Wilder couldn't believe her eyes and said: "It can't be true."

“Everyone, zoom in and see. This is not a real creature,” Donna added.

Another person named Melinda Dana Lewakowski said: “It’s a monster, not a frog. I’ve never seen a frog that big.”

A man named Matt Holmes commented: "It's a man-eating monster."
