Although Al-Tanf is currently the hot spot in Syria, the US has just made a confusing move by suddenly sending troops to the As-Susah base near the Iraqi border.

Information about the US troop deployment was reported by Fars news agency, the US has just quietly sent 2 convoys of 10 trucks carrying military equipment to As-Susah base in the east of Deir ez-Zor province - where the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are controlling.

In addition, the US also sent another convoy of 100 trucks transporting military equipment from Iraq through the Simalka border gate to another area in Syria - an area also currently under the control of the SDF.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also said that the US-led military coalition has suddenly mobilized many military vehicles carrying logistical equipment to the As-Susah base east of the Euphrates River. The US move is aimed at strengthening its combat capabilities against the presence of IS in the region.

The reason for the US military buildup in As-Susah is quite clear, however, according to Iranian news agencies, the increased US presence east of the Euphrates River may be due to the Americans' concern that the base in Al-Tanf is "frozen" under siege by Russia and the Syrian government army.

However, it is not excluded that the US suddenly mobilized troops to As-Susah related to the resources in this area. It is known that the eastern bank of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor is the most resource-rich land in Syria. Increasing its presence in this area, the US will have a stable source of finance to maintain the state they want to establish.

For the US, monopolizing oil in Deir Ezzor is the ultimate goal in eastern Syria. On that basis, the US can open an oil supply route from the Gulf to Europe and profit from it.

Analysts say the tactics Washington has applied in recent decades in the Middle East have brought the US trillions of dollars.

The US often intervenes in disputed areas, establishing military bases and garrisons, protecting prime, resource-rich areas under the banner of counter-terrorism and democracy.

In other regions, the US will ignore them, even "add fuel to the fire" by pumping money into the so-called "moderate opposition" to "maintain instability", thereby conveniently making money from oil fields and arms trafficking in the Middle East.

And it is possible that the same situation will be applied by the US to Al-Tanf. Just like what the US did in Afghanistan and Iraq, Deir Ezzor will likely become the US's pot of gold in Syria.
