US comments on Russian President Putin's gift to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un
(Baonghean.vn) - US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin's gift of an Aurus car to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was a violation of the United Nations Security Council resolution.

According to RT news agency on February 22, speaking at a regular press briefing on February 21, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the UN Security Council's sanctions resolutions require all member countries to impose a ban on providing both means of transport and luxury cars to North Korea.
“In light of this, it appears that Russia is once again violating UN Security Council resolutions, which it itself supports,” said Mr. Miller.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, said that the Russian leader gave his North Korean counterpart an Aurus car.
The North Korean Central News Agency KCNA reported on February 20 that the car gifted to leader Kim Jong-un by President Vladimir Putin was delivered by Russia to Kim Yo-jong and Pak Jong-chon, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, on February 18. Kim Yo-jong thanked Putin on behalf of her brother.
"The gift is a clear demonstration of the special personal relationship between the two leaders and a testament to the best relations," KCNA quoted Kim Yo-jong as saying.
In September 2023, when Mr. Kim Jong-un visited the Russian Vostochny Cosmodrome, President Putin introduced Mr. Kim to the presidential car, the Aurus Senat limousine, and invited Mr. Kim to try out this Russian-made car.
Many sources said that Moscow and Pyongyang are agreeing on the time of President Putin's visit to North Korea.
