On December 3, the White House said that US President Donald Trump has appointed US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to lead the next round of trade negotiations with China, aiming to ease ongoing trade tensions and avoid a larger-scale trade war.
After meeting at a working dinner on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Argentina on December 1, President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to delay the further increase in tariffs from the current 10% to 25% on a package of imported goods worth 200 billion USD from China within 90 days.
