US weighs next steps with China after summit in Alaska
The White House said on March 22 that it was considering next steps toward China following a summit in Alaska last week.
Speaking to reporters on March 22, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki emphasized that the US will consider all actions against China and continues to be concerned about human rights issues in the Xinjiang region of the country.

According to Ms. Psaki, the issue of Uyghurs in Xinjiang was mentioned at the meeting in Alaska as well as in the recent phone call between President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping. When asked about the possibility of further sanctions against China in the future, Ms. Psaki said the US will evaluate the necessary next steps with the coordination of allies around the world.
In a related development, the Biden administration on the same day sanctioned twoChinese officialsdue to human rights issues in Xinjiang. US sanctions have also been implemented by the European Union, the UK and Canada./.
