"The United States is concerned by reports of an operation by the Syrian Government in the southwest of the country within the de-escalation zone... We reiterate that any military action by the Syrian Government against the southwest de-escalation zone could lead to a broadening of the conflict," - US State Department spokeswoman Heather Neuert said.
The US threatened to use "decisive and appropriate measures" in response to the Syrian government's actions on this front.
These areas of Syria bordering Israel and Jordan are part of a de-escalation zone established in July 2017 under an agreement between Russia, the US and Jordan.
