The US warns of increased sanctions against Russia.
(Baonghean.vn) - Xinhua News Agency reported that US Vice President Joe Biden affirmed that the West would impose more sanctions on Russia if it did not fully implement the Minsk agreements, according to a White House statement on June 10.
The U.S. and its G7 allies are prepared to impose further sanctions if necessary in response to Russia's actions, Biden said during a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the White House.
Biden's statement underscores the determination of the U.S. and its G7 partners to continue pressuring Russia to fully implement the Minsk agreements, including returning control of Ukraine's international border to Ukraine, as well as withdrawing all Russian troops and weapons from Ukraine.

The United States and its European partners have imposed several rounds of sanctions against Russia over Moscow's annexation of Crimea and its alleged support for separatist forces in eastern Ukraine. In response, Moscow denies any involvement in the conflict in eastern Ukraine, including accusations of supplying weapons and personnel to rebel forces.
According to United Nations estimates, more than 6,000 people, including soldiers and civilians, have been killed and 16,146 others injured since the fighting began in April 2014.
