Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said the brain of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock will be analyzed with a microscope after a previous autopsy showed no abnormalities, NBC News reported yesterday.

In addition to brain tissue testing, experts will perform a number of other forensic assessments on Paddock's body. The brain analysis will be conducted at Stanford University's Department of Pathology.

The Clark County Special Investigations Office said it is unclear when the brain tissue analysis will be completed. Authorities will not release the location of Paddock's body for security reasons, but the family is aware of the information.

Paddock, 64, killed 58 people and injured hundreds when he opened fire on a music festival from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas on October 1, then committed suicide.

The investigation remains deadlocked despite officials examining 1,000 leads, looking at Paddock’s political views, finances, possible radicalization and social behavior – approaches that have helped uncover motives in previous shootings.
