The US Department of Defense yesterday released a video of a Tomahawk missile launched from the nuclear attack submarine USS John Warner, one of the weapons participating in the airstrike on Syria on April 14. The submarine's sailors in the Mediterranean used a thermal imaging reconnaissance system on a periscope to observe the surrounding sea surface. The Tomahawk missile left the vertical launch tube and shot up above the sea surface, then created a large stream of fire when the booster stage was activated. The missile gained altitude and flew towards the target.

US and allies launch 105 cruise missileson three targets in Syria in response to the country's alleged use of chemical weapons against civilians. Russia said the Syrian army responded by deploying Soviet-era S-125, S-200, 2K12 Kub air defense systems, as well as modern Buk-M2E and Pantsir-S1 complexes.

Russia says Syria has intercepted at least 71 missiles fired by the US and its allies. Meanwhile, the Pentagon claims it hit three chemical weapons-related targets in Syria and none were shot down.
