"The recent deployment (by Russia) of prohibited missiles with nuclear warheads is a serious threat to US interests in the field of national security," - Reuters quoted Congressman Royce.
This bill is essentially an amendment to the National Defense Law. Previously, a group of senators in the House Armed Services Committee also announced accusations of Moscow violating the INF. At the end of June, this group submitted a bill on military deterrence against Russia.
The INF Treaty banned the parties from possessing ground-launched ballistic and cruise missiles with ranges of 500-5,500 km.
Mr. Lavrov noted that "the United States says the opposite, but does not provide any specific information that can be checked to clarify the situation." Mr. Lavrov also stressed that Moscow "has very serious questions for the United States about its 'overzealous' implementation of the treaty.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has previously indicated that Moscow is seriously concerned about the US using data on the agreement as a pretext to launch a campaign of potential countermeasures against Russia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Russian leadership has repeatedly affirmed its commitment to its obligations under the INF Treaty, and "there have been no violations on our part."
