US offers to provide decommissioned destroyers to Ukrainian Navy
The United States has sent a proposal to Ukraine on the transfer of the decommissioned destroyer Oliver Hazard Perry. Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Voronchenko said on the TV program "Fifth Channel".

"Yes, indeed, we have received an offer to transfer two Oliver Perry-class destroyers, which were withdrawn from the US Navy in 2013-2015," he said.
Now the Ukrainian Navy is working on this issue, taking into account the condition of the ships and the cost of maintenance. According to Voronchenko, the operation of such a destroyer costs about $ 25 million per year.
In October, media reported that Ukraine could receive US destroyers as part of a program to sell unused military equipment and assets to other countries.
In September, the US Coast Guard also handed over two Island-class patrol boats to Kiev. Ukrainian President Piotr Poroshenko was present at the solemn ceremony in Baltimore, USA.
The Oliver Hazard Perry destroyers entered service in the 1970s, with the last being retired from the US Navy in 2015. Several of these ships remain in service with the navies of several countries, including Türkiye, Australia and Egypt.
