US names Ukrainian cities that will lose control if NATO does not intervene
(Baonghean.vn) - Newsweek (USA) said that if NATO troops are not sent to Ukraine, this Eastern European country will lose control of two strategic cities: Kharkov and Odessa.

Commentators David Rundell and Michael Gfoeller in an article in Newsweek commented: If Russia adjusts the goals of the special military campaign, Ukraine may not be able to maintain control of the two cities of Odessa and Kharkov, without direct intervention from NATO.
“So what happens when NATO troops enter Ukraine? Escalation is probably… the only way for the Zelensky government to keep Kharkov and Odessa,” the publication wrote.
Commentators say that the Armed Forces’ much-publicized spring counteroffensive “turned out to be a failure.” The authors assert that no analyst subscribes to the view that Ukraine will be able to recapture the lost territories on its own.
However, commentators have also warned that sending NATO troops into the territory of the former Soviet republic would have catastrophic consequences. The result of such actions could be a third world war.
On July 11, at the NATO Summit in Vilnius (Lithuania), the bloc's joint statement affirmed that "Ukraine's future is in NATO". NATO leaders agreed to invite Ukraine to join the military alliance when certain conditions are met. However, NATO did not issue a formal invitation to join and did not specify what conditions Ukraine must meet to become a member.
On the same day, in a message on Telegram, Ukrainian President Zelensky said, “It would be ridiculous if Ukraine was not given a specific time frame for an invitation to join or become a member of NATO.” These statements by Mr. Zelensky angered Western officials.
