According to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the fire broke out in the early evening of June 14 (local time). The fire started on the 26th floor and spread very quickly.

"Almost all of the apartments on the 26th floor were severely damaged. The fire also spread to the 27th floor, but fortunately the damage was minor," said David Jenkins, a spokesman for the Honolulu Fire Department.

Shortly after the fire broke out, more than 60 firefighters and rescue workers were mobilized to handle the incident. Up to now, 3 people have died, many others were injured, including 2 cases requiring emergency treatment due to smoke inhalation.

It is known that in addition to those rescued by firefighters, many others had to escape through the stairs. Authorities are searching for more victims.

Fire safety in high-rise buildings in major cities is showing signs of instability. Previously, at least 80 people died in the Grenfell Tower fire in London on June 14, causing many people to worry about the lack of safety in case of fire.
