(Baonghean.vn)- US Vice President Kamala Harris on March 3 called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and urged Israel to increase the flow of aid to alleviate what she called "inhumane" conditions and a "humanitarian disaster" for the Palestinian people.

Harris’s comments were among the most pointed by a senior US government official to call on Israel to ease conditions in Gaza. Vice President Harris, speaking at an event in Selma, Alabama, to commemorate “Bloody Sunday,” when state troops beat peaceful protesters, called on Hamas to accept the hostage release deal to initiate a six-week ceasefire and allow more aid to flow into Gaza.

“People in Gaza are starving,” Harris said. “The inhumane conditions and our common humanity compel us to act. The Israeli government must do more to dramatically increase the flow of aid. There are no excuses.”
Israel boycotted Gaza ceasefire talks in Cairo on Sunday after Hamas rejected its demand for a full list naming hostages still alive, an Israeli newspaper reported.
“Hamas has said they want a ceasefire. There is a deal on the table. And as we have said, Hamas needs to agree to it,” Harris said. “Let’s get a ceasefire. Let’s reunite the hostages with their families. And let’s get immediate relief to the people of Gaza.”
