America makes 'a lot of money' in the North Korea crisis

(Baonghean.vn)- Worried by the unprecedentedly heated rhetoric between the US and North Korea, countries in the region, such as Japan, are planning to seriously modernize their defense.

The problem is that the source of these military weapons, such as jets, air defense missiles, radar stations and other expensive products, comes from the US, which is a party to the above-mentioned war of words.

According to data from the International Peace Research Institute, the volume of arms trade has been steadily increasing since 2001. In this area, the United States has been ahead of the curve, achieving a 33% growth rate in sales between 2011 and 2015, compared to 29% between 2006 and 2010. According to data provided by the US agencies themselves, in 2015, the revenue from arms sales to other countries reached $47 billion, $15 billion more than in 2014.

In an interview with Sputnik, Serbian military analyst and columnist for the newspaper "Politika" Miroslav Lazanski said that any conflict in the world is a "gift" for countries with powerful military industries.

In his view, the US usually earns $20-25 billion from each crisis, and the North Korean crisis will be no exception. Lazanski recalled that the tense relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia brought Washington at least $65 billion through arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

This expert further noted: “Every shot or missile fired by the US, every liter of fuel wasted, is ultimately borne by Iraq. The US did not spend a single cent during the entire “Desert Storm” campaign. Another lucrative business is the war in Libya.”

According to this expert, it is difficult for the US to ignore the "unprecedented opportunity" emerging in the Asia-Pacific region./.
