US speaks out about upcoming naval exercises by Russia, China and Iran
The United States does not view upcoming naval exercises in February by Russia, China and Iran in the Indian Ocean as an impediment to its capabilities in the region, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told reporters.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Jagaryan announced plans to hold a trilateral naval exercise in mid-February in the Indian Ocean.

During the exercise, it is expected that there will be a plan to coordinate search and rescue operations and measures to ensure maritime safety.
“It’s a welcome addition to our naval capabilities. I don’t think we see this exercise as an impediment to our ability to protect freedom of navigation and support our alliances and partners around the world,” Kirby said.

Russian, Iranian and Chinese naval exercises called"Marine security belt"held in late December 2019, at the end of which the Iranian military expressed confidence that the exercise would continue. The resumption of the exercise, as the head of the Iranian Defense Ministry previously informed Sputnik, is related to the situation with the Coronavirus pandemic.
