US expands sanctions against Russia
The United States has expanded sanctions against Russia, citing the situation in Ukraine.

The sanctions list names 21 Russian and Ukrainian citizens and 9 companies.
Among them are Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia Andrei Tcherezov, Head of the Energy Ministry Evgeniy Grabchak as well as subsidiaries of the structure "Surgutneftegaz", "Silovye Machiny" (Power Machines) and "Technopromexport".
In addition, 12 other companies under sanctions are being clarified.
As the US State Department stated, these restrictive-sanctions measures are aimed at "putting pressure" on the full implementation of the provisions of the Minsk agreements.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that Moscow would immediately respond if the United States nevertheless imposed new sanctions.
In December, the Russian leader's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin was concerned about the debate in the United States about new sanctions against Russia.
