Those on the list are Oleg Chirkov, Vladimir Kagansky and Alexander Tribune. All of them, according to the Finance Ministry, are related to the company Daivtekhnoservis.
The sanctions list also includes the companies: Digital Security, Daivtechnoservis, Kvant Scientific Research Institute, ERPScan and Embedi.
According to the US side, all these companies are related to the FSB.
The sanctions are imposed under a law passed last year called Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).
US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said the companies "undermine the security of Washington and its allies".
The example given of the "Russian threat" is considered to be the NotPetya virus cyber attack. The US believes that Moscow is responsible for it.
