According to Antony Blinken, the summit between US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva next week is unlikely to show whether Moscow wants to do something similar. During the meeting, the US leader plans to say directly what the US will face if reckless acts of aggression against the United States continue.
“He will also make clear that if Russia chooses to take a different course of action, we will prioritize a more stable relationship. That will benefit our people, the Russian people, and the world,” Mr. Blinken said.
At the same time, Blinken said he couldn't say whether he was optimistic about testing this opportunity, but it was important to know.
“I don't think it will be clear after the first meeting, but we will have some data,” Mr. Blinken said.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that in case Russia takes aggressive and reckless actions in relations with Washington or its allies, there will certainly be response measures. He noted that the US "wants a more stable and predictable relationship with Russia", but at the same time threatened that in the opposite case, Washington will apply necessary measures.
The meeting between the two presidents of Russia and the United States is scheduled to take place on June 16 in Geneva. The White House previously informed that cybersecurity will be one of the topics that Mr. Biden will choose to bring up in his conversation with Mr. Putin.
