US detects North Korea missile launch failure
The US military announced on October 15 that it had just detected North Korea conducting a medium-range ballistic missile launch but it failed.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said North Korea launched a Muxudan missile at 3:33 p.m. yesterday from the northwestern city of Kusong.
The launch did not pose a threat to North America, but the North American Aerospace Defense Command strongly condemned the action and said US military units needed to be vigilant "against North Korea's provocative actions and coordinate closely with our allies in South Korea and Japan to ensure security."

US Defense Department spokesman Gary Ross said the US would raise concerns about this missile launch as well as previous ones at the United Nations (UN).
Last month, the top US diplomat for East Asia said the US would accelerate the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system in South Korea to counter North Korea’s missile tests. However, China strongly opposed the plan, saying it would affect its security.
In addition, US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia Daniel Russel also informed Congress that the government is discussing with international partners, including the European Union (EU), about denying North Korea access to international banks as a punitive measure following its recent missile launches and nuclear tests.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has been under strict international sanctions following its missile launches and two nuclear tests earlier this year and last September./.
