US approves new law to sanction Russia and oppose “Nord Stream-2”
The Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Congress has approved a bill to introduce sanctions against those involved in the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 and Turkish Stream projects, as the results of the vote in this Committee show.
"According to the chairman's conclusions, the majority is in favor. The blocks of legislation that were considered and agreed to be amended without objections continue to be submitted for consideration in the Senate," - said the chairman of the committee Eliot Engel (a delegate from the Democratic Party of New York) after the end of the session.
Nord Stream-2 has laid more than 50% of the gas pipeline volume
In early June, a group of senators from the Senate, including the representative from the Republican Party of Illinois, Adam Kinzinger, presented a bill to the US Congress, which provides for sanctions related to the implementation of "Nord Stream-2" and "Turkish Stream".
Specifically, the bill proposes banning entry into the United States and freezing the accounts in the United States Judicial Administration of those involved in the "sale, lease, or provision" of vessels for the laying of Russian underwater pipelines.
