US approves new commander of Indo-Pacific Command
The US Senate on April 21 approved the new commander of the Indo-Pacific Command.
In a vote on April 21, the US Senate unanimously approved Admiral John Aquilino as the new commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command. Admiral Aquilino, who has commanded the US Pacific Fleet since May 2018, will replace Admiral Philip Davidson.

Admiral Aquilino will lead the US Indo-Pacific Command as the region becomes a priority for the US military amid growing competition with China.
Speaking at a Senate hearing, Admiral Aquilino said that China considers the annexation of Taiwan as its number one priority, and warned that the possibility of China seeking to attack Taiwan could happen sooner than many people predict./.
