US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal - is the deadline approaching?

According to CNN, it seems that the US President has said "OK" to introduce new measures to punish Iran, with the first step being to withdraw from the nuclear deal that the two countries signed in a previous multilateral agreement.
The agency said that government officials believe the final decision will be made at 2 p.m. on May 8, 2018, which is 2 a.m. on May 9, 2018, Vietnam time. Meanwhile, the results of a public survey show the opposite, with nearly 63% of Americans saying the government will not withdraw from the nuclear deal with Iran.
This nuclear agreement was signed between Iran and France, the UK, Russia, the US, China and Germany in 2015. After being elected President, Mr. Donald Trump reconsidered this issue because he thought that a tougher stance was needed towards Iran. Meanwhile, the remaining P5+1 countries still saw the need to maintain the agreement to ensure a peaceful environment and eliminate the risk of nuclear weapons for the world.
Why did the US change its stance to be more tough on Iran?

Fourth, the P5+1 countries and many European countries clearly see the risks and disadvantages when the US, by withdrawing from the agreement, will push Iran further out of control...
Once again, people have the right to doubt the “goodwill” for peace of big countries. People are forced to be cautious with foreign policies and commitments of big powers.
