The death toll from the two earthquakes in Iran has risen to 300; 2,600 people were injured.

On August 12, the White House offered condolences to the people of Iran following the losses caused by the two earthquakes on August 11, and affirmed the U.S.'s readiness to assist Iran in overcoming its current difficulties.

White House spokesman Jay Carney emphasized that the American people are praying for the Iranian families who lost loved ones in the earthquake and for the speedy recovery of those injured. The United States is ready to help Iran overcome the aftermath of the earthquake.

Many other countries, such as Russia and Pakistan, also sent condolences to the Iranian people and offered assistance to help the country overcome its current difficulties.

According to the latest reports, the death toll from the two consecutive earthquakes in northwestern Iran has risen to 300, and this number is expected to increase. Meanwhile, the Iranian Red Crescent reports that the number of injured has increased to 2,600.

According to Iran's Interior Ministry, the two powerful earthquakes damaged approximately 110 villages, 20 of which were flattened. Iran's Ministry of Health quickly dispatched medical relief teams to three northwestern provinces: East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, and Ardebil. Currently, more than 5,000 tents have been set up for over 16,000 displaced people.

Iran's Seismological Research Center reported that the first earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, had its epicenter just 10km below the surface, and the second earthquake, occurring only 11 minutes later, measured 6 on the Richter scale and also had its epicenter at a depth of 10km. Following these two earthquakes, 35 aftershocks occurred.
