The US is planning to send an aircraft carrier to waters near the Korean Peninsula next month to participate in a joint exercise with the South Korean Navy, Yonhap news agency reported on September 18, citing a source from the South Korean Defense Ministry.
In a report to Congress, the ministry said the two countries will conduct exercises in October 2017 with the participation of a US aircraft carrier strike group, but did not disclose the name of the ship.
