The US donates an additional 1 million doses of Pfizer vaccine to Vietnam

The US will donate an additional 1 million doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam, bringing the total number of Covid-19 vaccines donated to Vietnam to 6 million doses.

According to reporters in the press group accompanying the Vice PresidentKamala Harris,During a meeting this morning (August 25) with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Ms. Harris announced that the US will give Vietnam 1 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

The US Vice President's Office said that, given the heavy damage that Covid-19 has caused to both countries, as well as the Biden - Harris administration's efforts to turn the US into the world's vaccine warehouse, the Vice President announced that the US will donate an additional 1 million doses of Pfizer vaccine to Vietnam, bringing the total amount of vaccine aid to Vietnam to 6 million doses.

The US has provided Vietnam with more than 5 million doses of Moderna vaccine out of a total of 23 million doses the US has provided to 20 Asian countries and territories. Vietnam is one of the 10 countries receiving the most vaccines under this program.

The CDC Regional Office for Southeast Asia will be inaugurated in Hanoi this afternoon with the aim of promoting global health security by maintaining a sustainable presence in the region, facilitating rapid and effective responses to health threats.
