US donates 1 million more doses of Pfizer vaccine to Vietnam

The US will donate an additional 1 million doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam, bringing the total number of Covid-19 vaccines donated to Vietnam to 6 million doses.

According to reporters in the press group accompanying the Vice PresidentKamala Harris,During a meeting this morning (August 25) with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Ms. Harris announced that the US will donate 1 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to Vietnam.

The US Vice President's Office said that, given the severe damage caused by Covid-19 to both countries, as well as the Biden - Harris administration's efforts to turn the US into the world's vaccine warehouse, the Vice President announced that the US will donate an additional 1 million doses of Pfizer vaccine to Vietnam, bringing the total vaccine aid to Vietnam to 6 million doses.

The US has provided more than 5 million doses of Moderna vaccine to Vietnam out of a total of 23 million doses the US has provided to 20 Asian countries and territories. Vietnam is one of the 10 countries receiving the most vaccines in this program.

The CDC Regional Office for Southeast Asia will be inaugurated in Hanoi this afternoon with the aim of promoting global health security by maintaining a sustainable presence in the region, facilitating rapid and effective responses to health threats.
