US reveals plan to destroy Russian air defense system

The US admits that the Russian army, aerospace forces and fleet are equipped with modern weapons and vehicles with very strong combat capabilities. To win against Moscow, the US needs to comprehensively modernize its army, the BreakingDefence portal reported.

General Wally Rugen, commander of the US Air Force, told reporters that currently, US military forces are present everywhere in the world, fighting against terrorist organizations, pirates... contributing to stabilizing the world situation.

However, in recent years, many armed forces with modern equipment and high combat power have appeared and threatened US interests, so the US military needs to seriously evaluate and modernize its forces to be capable of conducting military operations and countering threats, especially from Russia and China.

The US needs to revive the concept of “Multi-Domain Battle” and regain control of the skies. This is important because the US Air Force is currently ineffective and has difficulty overcoming enemy defenses, especially Russian defenses.

Russia's defense systems are very modern, high-tech and built according to the A2/AD principle. Currently, with new generation radar stations, electronic warfare systems, missile defense systems and advanced air defense missile complexes, Russia has a great advantage in the battle for air superiority.

The deployment of these new Russian equipment has limited the operations of the US Air Force. Therefore, the US is changing its military concept and modernizing its army.

According to the plan, in the next decade the US will research and develop modular missiles with nuclear warheads and their range will also be improved. The US defense industry will develop drones capable of overcoming Russian air defense systems.

The general stressed that the US military will receive new types of planes and helicopters 60% faster than now and they will use artificial intelligence.

Ground forces will also be modernized, especially the US will restore the strength of artillery forces. In addition, the US will also receive new generation combat vehicles with superior power and the ability to fight together.

Mr. Rugen also proposed a scenario for destroying Russian air defense systems. Specifically, drones would distract and destroy radar stations, while long-range artillery forces would eliminate ground-based defense complexes. Then, the air force with fast fighters would take advantage of the opportunity and reach a suitable distance to attack with long-range missiles.

Finally, the commander emphasized that in the near future the US will focus more on developing long-range weapons, because they will allow the US to counter attacks and respond appropriately.
