According to US military experts, the US Air Force has an aircraft with a special electronic warfare system EA-18G that will be able to counter the S-300.

A few days ago, the Russian Defense Ministry announced to the public that Russian military forces participating in the campaign against international terrorism IS in Syria will be protected by the S-300 air defense system.

This is one of the S-300 systems carrying mobile, multi-channel air defense missiles used to destroy all modern air attack vehicles, including aircraft, strategic and tactical ballistic missiles at all altitudes, speeds, and in all harsh conditions.

Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov stressed that any missile or air strikes on the territory controlled by Damascus would pose a threat to the Russian military, and without Russia's permission they would be immediately destroyed.

Of course, this action of Russia makes the US and the West worried, especially the US. Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Arsenal of the Nation", Mr. Viktor Murakhovski said that the US will find a way to respond or limit the influence of the S-300 system in Syria. According to him, the US will use active or passive defense systems to counter the S-300. Passive defense means the method of affecting the control radar system of the S-300 system by creating interference noise. The Americans have begun to equip their fighter jets with interference systems by hanging containers along with electronic warfare systems.

The US Air Force has an aircraft with a special electronic warfare system EA-18G “Growler”. This is an aircraft capable of “suppressing” various radar systems as well as navigation systems. The EA-18G “Growler” aircraft will be equipped with a high-speed data link Tactical Targeting Network Technology (TTNT) and all the new upgraded hardware will allow the Growlers to coordinate operations against powerful enemy (air-to-air) weapon systems – which is becoming a common trend in the world.

According to Rear Admiral Mike Manazir, director of aviation for the US Navy, the AI will need at least two EA-18G fighters connected at high speed to each other and to a Northrop Grumman E-2D Hawkeye airborne early warning aircraft to conduct analysis to remotely and precisely determine the location of the threat signal device.

After identifying the target, the “Growler” will use the AGM-88 HARM anti-radar “killer” to destroy the target. The AGM-88 is an anti-radar missile integrated with the US Air Force’s HCSM target control system, allowing it to destroy enemy radar systems, effectively and accurately protecting US military air strikes against enemy air defense systems.

Earlier, the Pentagon announced that it would respond appropriately to Russia's deployment of the S-300 air defense system in Syria.
